Moonlight bathed the mountains bare peaks. Snow had fallen on the land of dragons known as Tisindra. A red dragon raised his head; he had been in a long slumber for days. Black horns stuck out of his large head that stretched down his neck, stopping in between his wings. He was known as the night glider or Corlak. He didnt usually fly at night but the leathery parts of his red wings were pitch black, dotted with white speckles that look liked stars. He shook his snow covered head; the sudden change in the weather had aroused him. Corlak shivered, burr why I have to wake up so soon? He rose his scale body, rearing onto his hind legs. The red dragon was tall standing on his large legs, giving him a more dominate look that some other dragons lacked of. He shook his neck, letting it ripple down his body to the tip of his arrow headed, spiked tail. The red dragon sighed with relief to have to freezing snow off his body.
Corlak raised his red snout to the moon, narrowing his eyes a bit; all the others must be waking soon as well. He shook his head, chuckling remembering last season, Ah good memories! He sat back on his rump, folding his arms over his red chest. His horns glinted in the moonlight that shown above his head. Corlak sighed; a difficult season thisll be predicting on how much snow is on the Dragon Spike Mountains.
The red dragon glanced around at the three other mountains that formed a ring above a large valley below, Aldon. He gazed at the valley below, the trees shimmered with frost and the boulders and the usually rich grass ground was covered in deep snow.
The sun began to rise as Corlak realized he had fallen asleep in the sitting position he was in. Frost had formed on his horns and spikes, glimmering brightly in the morning rays. He blinked open his golden eyes, grumbling. He moved his stiff body, falling back onto all fours. The red dragon arched his back in a large stretch while his neck curved upwards. Corlak scratched at his webby like ear on either side of his head. Movement below caught his eye, another dragon had arisen. He sighed with relief; it was Glokor, his best friend. Corlak rose his head, letting a loud roar escape threw his jaws. Glokor turned his white, blue lined head at the roar. The dragon instantly knew who it was before he laid his eyes on his friend, cocking his head to the blue sky, roaring back. Their roars echoed in the mountains, seeming as if they were roaring with them. Corlak flapped his large black wings before rising into the clear sky. The red dragon swooped downward, the cold air stinging his face. Glokor reared onto his hind legs, outstretching his arms, brother! The two friends called each other brother since they had known each other before when they were chicks. Corlak let out a rumbling laugh, Its good to see you, Glokor! Glokor shook one finger at his red friend, How can you miss me when Im just few flight hops away! Flight hops were what they called for yards. The red dragon curved his neck downward, head butting the icy colored dragon in the chest. Glokor grunted, shoving him away with his front hands, Dont do that he chuckled. Corlak stood on his hind legs with Glokor. The white blue lined scaled dragon was short then his muscular red friend but he paid no heed to it. The red dragon shook his head, sighing. Glokor turned to his friend, Brother is there something wrong? a worried glint entered his light purple eyes. Corlak shook his head, I just have a feeling that thisll be the worst winter yet The white dragon nodded slowly, a slight glaze entering his eyes, I forgot to tell you that wiser mind dragon, Roltran is getting sink Roltran was an old black Chinese dragon with white whiskers hanging down his nose. He was an old one; every dragon came to him and his two brothers, Talja the golden dragon and Jolfren the blue dragon for advice. Corlak gasped at this news, What!? How? Glokor frowned, I dont know he just fell ill with blood crest flu Blood crest flu was the deadliest of sicknesses the dragons in Tisindra have discovered.
Corlaks eyes glazed over and his red arms dropped to his side, b-but there is no cure His white friend bowed his head, Soon this news will spread threw the waking dragons who knows what theyll do Glokor shook his head. The red dragon growled, Damn! This is why I hate winters they always bring misfortune! He tightened one fist, slamming it into his other palm. Glokor waked Corlak gently in his head, language! He grumbled, Sorry fear and sadness had suddenly washed over the red dragon at the old dragons sickness, without his stories and such how will young dragons learn? His two brothers are no good, lazy is all they are, dont care of the ancient tales their brother tells! Corlak sighed, I must go hunting tell Roltran that I hope Daltress give him good health again Daltress was the sky dragon that looked apoun them and were good dragons go when they die. Axris was the bringer of death and deadly flames that were the evil souls would go. Glokor nodded, lifting his sparkling white wings. He flapped once before rising into the air and soaring to the forth mountain. Corlak turned his large red head to the frosted forest just beyond his reach. He fell back to his front legs, walking forward. He lowered his nose, sniffing the newly snow. Hopefully Ill find a rabbit and give him both the rabbit to feet and its foot for good luck, the red dragon thought. A fresh trace of deer crossed his way, turning his head. Corlak spread his wings, rising into the air with a few silent flaps. He soared over the area, looking for the deer he had spotted. A fresh scent filled his nose as he looked down. The deer was right below him. Diving down, his claws outstretched. A few moments had passed before the red dragon rose back into the air. Blood had sprayed across the snow, turning it a scarlet red. The deer hung limping on his large claws, its head lolling back in an awkward position. The red dragon was pleased with himself. He rose higher and higher into the air, turning to the forth mountain.
Corlak arrived at the darkened cave of the three Chinese dragons. Blood and sickness hung in the crisp winter air from the mouth. Who go there? a ragged voice echoed from the cave. A pair of slit yellow eyes glimmered from the shadows. It is I, Corlak, the Night Glider. I have brought Roltran a freshly killed deer Silence answered him and a few scrapes from claws across bare rock. A golden slim head appeared before him, a smile plastered on the dragons muzzle. Ah, Corlak! You have grown much since weve seen you, come in He turned, disappearing into the darkness. The red dragon followed close behind, the fowl scents causing his eyes to water. A large cavern soon gapped before him, covered in glowing moss. Corlak squinted his eyes to peer at a snake like figure in the shadows. Its scales clung to its bone, making look as if the creature was already bone. Realizing who it was, he gasped, Roltran! A hauntly sickness clenched at his belly as he watched the black dragon open his dimly lit eyes.
